Search
Search the web, then search what you kept
Two kinds of search in one API: a web search that scrapes its results into a knowledge base, and keyword or semantic search over everything you have crawled, scraped or uploaded.
2 modes
Keyword and semantic, merged with reciprocal rank fusion
Scoped
To one knowledge base, filtered by job, type, language and date
Paid plans
Knowledge base search is on paid plans; web search jobs on every plan
Search that knows where the text came from
Web search into a KB
A search job runs the query, scrapes the results and stores them as markdown you can search again later.
Keyword search
Exact terms, product names and error codes, ranked by relevance with highlights.
Semantic search
Questions in plain language find the chunk that answers them, even with different words.
Hybrid ranking
Both result lists are merged with reciprocal rank fusion, so neither mode’s blind spot wins.
Chunks with context
Results are chunks with their page, heading path and score, ready to hand to a model.
API, console and MCP
The same search from REST, the SDKs, the console and the 21-tool MCP server.
How search fits in
- 01 / 03
Fill a knowledge base
Crawl a site, upload files, or run a web search job that scrapes its results.
- 02 / 03
Ask it
GET /api/kb/:id/search for keyword, /search/embed for semantic and hybrid.
- 03 / 03
Ground your answers
Pass the top chunks to your model, with their sources for citations.
Search from your code
Web search is a job that fills a knowledge base. Knowledge base search answers immediately.
Questions
What does the demo above search?
The open web. It shows the top three results; signed in you see them all, and a search job scrapes every result into a knowledge base you can then search by meaning.
What is hybrid search?
Running keyword and semantic search together and merging the two ranked lists with reciprocal rank fusion, so exact terms and paraphrases both find the right chunk.
Is search included in the free plan?
Web search jobs, scraping and crawling are on every plan. Searching inside a knowledge base by keyword or meaning needs a paid plan.
Can my agent use it?
Yes. The MCP server exposes search to Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code, and the SDKs wrap both search modes.
