Chrome extension
SarvCrawl – Web to Markdown & Site Crawler for AI
Any page, one click
Open the popup on any page and copy it as clean Markdown. No ads, menus or cookie banners.
Overview
Copy any page as clean Markdown for ChatGPT or Claude, and crawl whole websites into a knowledge base.
Web pages are full of menus, ads, cookie banners and scripts that waste an AI model’s context. SarvCrawl turns the page you are on into clean Markdown: the headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, links and code, and nothing else. Copy it, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, or save it as a file.
When one page isn’t enough, sign in and crawl the whole site. Every page goes into a SarvCrawl knowledge base, chunked and embedded, so you can search it by keyword or meaning from the console, the API or the MCP server.

What it does
Built for pasting the web into AI.
Four ways to get a page out, and one way to get a whole site in.
Copy as Markdown
Headings, lists, tables, links and code come through as Markdown, from the page exactly as you see it, including ones you’re signed in to. Navigation, ads and cookie banners are stripped out.
Copy for AI
Wraps the page in a short prompt with its title and source URL, so ChatGPT or Claude knows what it is reading. Shows a token estimate.
Download .md
Saves the page as a Markdown file named after its title, with the source URL at the bottom.
Right-click menu
“Copy page as Markdown” and “Copy page for ChatGPT / Claude” on every page, without opening the popup.
Crawl into a knowledge base
Sign in and crawl the site you are on. Every page is converted, chunked, embedded and searchable from the console, the API and MCP.
Live progress
The toolbar icon counts stored pages while the crawl runs and shows a tick when it is done.
Start in a minute
- 1Add it to ChromeInstall from the Chrome Web Store and pin SarvCrawl to the toolbar.
- 2Open any pageClick the icon and copy, paste into your AI chat, or download. No account needed to start.
- 3Sign in to crawlLog in with your SarvCrawl account to turn the whole site into a knowledge base.
It only acts when you click.
No background reading of your tabs and no browsing history. When you press a button it sends that one page, with form fields and scripts removed, to crawl.sarv.com, which converts it and keeps nothing. Details are in the privacy policy.
- Works on pages you’re signed in to
- Never sends passwords or other sites’ cookies
- No ads or trackers in the extension
Permissions it asks for, and why
activeTab- Gives access to the tab you clicked on, and only that tab, only when you open the popup or the right-click menu.
scripting- Reads the page you asked to convert (with form fields and scripts removed first), and writes the copied Markdown to your clipboard from the right-click menu.
contextMenus- Adds the two copy actions to the page’s right-click menu.
cookies- Reads your SarvCrawl sign-in from crawl.sarv.com, so you don’t paste an API key. It cannot read cookies from any other site.
storage- Remembers who is signed in and the crawl in progress.
alarms- Checks a running crawl every 30 seconds to update the toolbar badge.
Questions
Before you install.
Is the extension free?
Yes. Copying and downloading pages works without an account, up to an hourly limit. Signing in raises the limit, and crawling a site into a knowledge base uses the 1 billion tokens every new account gets.
What does it send to SarvCrawl?
Only when you click a button: the page’s address, title and content as you see it, with form fields (anything you typed, passwords, hidden tokens), scripts and frames removed in your browser first. SarvCrawl converts it in memory, sends the Markdown back and discards it. Nothing is cached or stored. The extension never reads your browsing history or pages you don’t click it on.
Does it work on pages behind a login?
Yes. It converts the page exactly as you see it, so dashboards, inboxes, docs and paid articles you are signed in to work too. Your passwords and cookies for those sites are never read or sent; only the visible page content goes, and only when you click. Crawling a whole site still uses public pages only.
Do I need an API key?
No. The extension uses your normal SarvCrawl sign-in. Log in once from the popup and it signs in with you. Logging out of either one logs out of both.
Where do crawled pages go?
Into a knowledge base in your SarvCrawl account: a new one named after the site, or one you already have. Open it in the console to read the pages, search them, or query them from the API and the MCP server.
Which browsers does it support?
Chrome, and Chromium browsers that install from the Chrome Web Store, such as Edge, Brave and Arc.
